A few of us braved the rain to take in this fantasy epic based on the book series...a good movie which was slightly tarnished by the awful trailer for Speed Racer which played before the movie...
OCAG November Meetup
When: Saturday, November 17th @ 7 PM
Estimated Attendance: 18
One of our regular anime viewing nights, with a twist...food themed episodes of selected anime were shown to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. Along with the themed anime, the following food related contests wer held over the course of the night:
Ramune Drinking Contest to see who could down two bottles of the Japanese drink the fastest
Cupcake Contest to see who could eat two cupcakes the fastest, WITHOUT the use of their hands.
Jell-O Eating Contest to see who could finish their Jell-O the fastest, pairs of two teamed up to be fed Jell-O before switching up and being the one that did the feeding. The twist: Said Jell-O had to be consumed using chopsticks!
Ramen Eating Contest to see who could finish a bowl of ramen the fastest.
Another OCAG movie outing, we had dinner before the movie at El Torito before taking in this cheesy CGI movie which was based on the old literary work of the same title. So-so movie, but we had fun laughing at it anyway!
OCAG Invades Halloween!
When: Saturday, October 20th @ 6 PM
Estimated Attendance: 49 (This was Anime Souffle's attendance estimate)
A few of us OC natives went up to 'crash' the Anime Souffle (our sister group in LA) Fright Night event, complete with some appropriately themed anime as well as a costume contest and potluck with ghoulishly good food featuring gruesome nicknames
To celebrate the Halloween holiday, we made the trek up to Long Beach to check out the Queen Mary's Haunted Shipwreck...maybe it was the late time that we showed up, but it seemed like the 'monsters' just gave up after awhile...
OCAG September Meetup
