New Year's Otaku style!
When: Monday, Decmeber 31st, 2007
Estimated Attendance: 19
A somewhat low key New Year's Eve party hosted by one of our newer members in the comforts of their home. Much Rock Band, Guitar Hero and old school Dance Dance Revolution was played. Not to mention, a mini Death Note marathon was showed in addition to the corny, but entertaining Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer.

Alien invaders causing massive destruction in New York? Wasn't this done several thousand times already? Maybe it was, but still, nothing beats the good old popcorn flick full of explosions and people running around like chickens with their heads cut off while trying to escape. The twist? Said carnage is documented on film by characters as they try to survive (sort of like Blair Witch). OCAG was there opening night to take in this absurdly cliche packed movie (and no one got sick from the shaky camera work)

Persepolis Movie Night
When: Saturday, January 12th, 2008
Estimated Attendance: 11
Persepolis is the poignant story of a young girl in Iran during the Islamic Revolution. It is through the eyes of the precocious and outspoken 9-year-old Marjane that we see a people's hopes dashed as fundamentalists take power--forcing the veil on women and imprisoning thousands. Clever and fearless, Marjane outsmarts the "social guardians" and discovers punk, ABBA, and Iron Maiden. Yet when her uncle is senselessly executed and as bombs fall around Tehran in the Iran/Iraq war, the daily fear that permeates life in Iran is palpable.
In a change of pace, OCAG took in this artsy-independent film, based on the graphic novel which in turn was based on a true story.
